GDPR Compliance Software Built for Real Compliance

Conzent is GDPR compliance software built for real compliance — meeting both the letter and the spirit of the regulation. No dark patterns, no pre-ticked boxes, no consent walls.

What GDPR Requires

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) requires that:

  • Consent is freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous
  • Users can reject non-essential cookies as easily as they can accept them
  • Consent choices are logged with a full audit trail
  • Users can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as they gave it
  • Prior consent is obtained before any non-essential cookies are set

How Conzent Delivers

Freely given: the reject button is always visible and equally prominent. No pre-ticked categories. No "legitimate interest" overrides for tracking cookies.

Specific: visitors see every cookie category with clear descriptions. They can grant or deny consent per category in the preference centre.

Informed: banner content explains what data is collected, by whom, and for what purpose. Cookie descriptions are auto-populated from our global reference database of 50,000+ known cookies.

Unambiguous: consent is recorded only on an explicit affirmative action (clicking "Accept" or toggling categories). Scrolling, closing the banner, or continued browsing does not count as consent.

Logged: every consent decision is stored with timestamp, anonymised IP, country, per-category choices, and TCF string where applicable. Logs are downloadable for compliance audits.

Withdrawable: the revisit consent button lets visitors change their choices at any time.

Geo-Targeting

Conzent detects visitor location and applies the appropriate consent experience:

  • EU/EEA visitors — full GDPR consent banner with opt-in
  • California visitors — CCPA-compliant notice with opt-out
  • Other regions — configurable per your requirements

Data Processing Agreement

For managed cloud customers, a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available. Conzent acts as a data processor on your behalf; you remain the data controller.

Frequently asked questions

What is GDPR compliance software?

Software that helps a website meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation's consent, transparency and data-subject-rights requirements — typically a consent banner, consent logging, and tools for people to exercise their rights. Conzent covers all three.

Is Conzent free GDPR compliance software?

Self-hosting via OCI is free forever; the managed cloud has a free trial and public per-site pricing after that — see pricing.

Does GDPR compliance software need to log consent?

Yes — GDPR expects you to be able to demonstrate that consent was freely given. Conzent logs timestamp, anonymised IP, country, per-category choices and TCF string for every decision.

Is a cookie banner enough for GDPR compliance?

A banner is the visible part; GDPR also expects consent logging, an easy way to withdraw consent, and — depending on your site — a data processing agreement and data subject rights handling, all of which Conzent includes.
