A/B Testing

Test different banner designs, copy, and layouts to find the optimal consent experience. Data-driven decisions for your consent UX.

A/B Testing

Consent rates vary dramatically based on banner design, copy, and layout. A/B testing lets you make informed decisions instead of guessing.

How It Works

Create two or more variants of your consent banner and split traffic between them. Conzent tracks key metrics for each variant:

  • Accept rate — percentage of visitors who grant full consent
  • Reject rate — percentage who decline all non-essential cookies
  • Customise rate — percentage who open the preference centre
  • Interaction time — how long visitors spend on the consent decision
  • Bounce rate — visitors who leave without interacting

What You Can Test

Any banner setting can vary between variants:

  • Layout — box vs. banner vs. popup
  • Position — top, bottom, corner placements
  • Copy — headlines, descriptions, button labels
  • Button configuration — show/hide reject button, button order
  • Colours — different colour schemes or themes
  • Content length — concise vs. detailed descriptions

Statistical Significance

Conzent calculates statistical significance automatically. You will see a clear indicator when a variant has enough data to declare a winner — no manual spreadsheet analysis required.

Compliance First

Every A/B test variant must remain compliant. You cannot test removing the reject button in jurisdictions where it is legally required. Conzent validates variants against your compliance settings before the test goes live.

Use Cases

  • Find the layout that maximises consent rates without dark patterns
  • Test whether shorter banner copy increases engagement
  • Compare colour schemes for different audience segments
  • Measure the impact of showing cookie counts vs. hiding them
