New Feature: Revenue Impact Calculator
We are shipping a feature that many of you have been asking for: the Revenue Impact Calculator. It is now available for all Pro and Enterprise customers.
The Problem
Every website owner running consent banners faces a tension between compliance and revenue. Higher consent rates mean more data for ad targeting, which means higher advertising revenue. But optimising purely for consent rates can lead to dark patterns — pre-checked boxes, confusing language, tiny reject buttons — that violate both the spirit and the letter of GDPR.
Until now, most website owners have been flying blind. They know their consent rate, but they do not know the financial impact of each percentage point. Is it worth changing your banner design to increase consent from 72% to 78%? What does that actually mean in euros or dollars? Without hard numbers, these decisions are based on gut feeling.
How It Works
The Revenue Impact Calculator connects your consent data with your advertising performance to give you clear, actionable numbers.
Here is what you see in the dashboard:
Current consent rate — your real consent rate across all visitors, broken down by category (analytics, marketing, functional) and by region.
Revenue per consented visitor — how much advertising revenue each consenting visitor generates on average, calculated from your connected ad accounts.
Revenue impact per percentage point — the estimated monthly revenue change for each 1% change in consent rate. This is the number that matters: it tells you exactly what is at stake.
Scenario modelling — adjust the consent rate slider and see projected revenue changes in real time. What happens if you add a reject button? What happens if you switch from a popup to a banner? Now you can see the financial impact before making changes.
Connecting Your Data
The Revenue Impact Calculator pulls data from two sources:
- Conzent consent logs — we already track consent rates, so no additional setup is needed
- Google Analytics / Google Ads — connect your accounts via OAuth to import revenue and conversion data
We plan to add support for additional ad platforms (Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising) in the coming months. For now, the Google integration covers the majority of use cases.
All data processing happens within the Conzent platform. We do not share your advertising data with third parties, and you can disconnect your accounts at any time.
Why This Matters
Transparency is a core value at Conzent — not just for website visitors, but for website owners too. We believe you should make consent decisions based on data, not fear.
The Revenue Impact Calculator helps you find the balance point: the consent experience that is fully compliant, respectful to visitors, and financially sustainable for your business. In most cases, our customers find that an honest, well-designed consent banner performs surprisingly close to one filled with dark patterns — often within 5-10% in terms of revenue.
That is a powerful finding. It means doing the right thing and running a profitable business are not in conflict. You just need the data to prove it.
